Whether or not Campbell deserved his reception at Don Quichotte opening performance, fact remains he and the board members he managed to railroad into voting for closure remain committed to closing the debt-free company in a couple weeks, liquidating its $15m in assets, including its always-profitable scenic shop, eliminating hundreds of jobs, and paying out Ian’s contract, among others, through 2017, instead of innovating/adapting/examining cost-cutting options that other US companies are successfully implementing. Contrary to Campbell’s public avowals, the only nobility here lies in tbe tireless ongoing efforts of Save SDO employees, supporters, unions, and community members who continue to urge the board to rescind tbe closure.
