Story
Tuesday’s (March 6) chamber music concert at the Auditorium at TSRI presented a hearty cadre of San Diego Symphony musicians and two guest harpsichordists playing Bach, Zelenka, and Mendelssohn.
Cuban-American soprano Elaine Alvarez is in San Diego preparing to perform the title role in San Diego Opera’s production of Daniel Catán’s opera “Florencia en el Amazonas,” which opens Saturday, March 17, at Civic Theatre.
“Giselle is all about the story,” says Ariana Gonzalez, who dances the role of Giselle…“It still resonates, and in the Pas de Deux with Albrecht, the music and choreography take me to another place. It’s surreal.”
Judges and two audiences awarded prizes in three categories. Unlike previous years, there were no hip hop armies charging forward. Instead, dances blasted the senses with dramatic ensembles, angry fists, and quirky theater. And love.
