Writers contributing to SanDiegoStory.com received 4 awards last night at the 40th Annual San Diego Press Club Awards at Joe & Vi Jacobs Center at Market Creek in Emerald Hills near the intersection of Interstate 805 and Highway 94.  The writers scored one 3rd place, one 2nd place and one 1st place prize in the “Daily Newspaper or Website” master category competing against much larger local publishers like U-T San Diego and the San Diego Daily Transcript.  The judging for all of the works is not done by anyone in San Diego, but by press clubs in other cities.  The San Diego Press Club participates in judging entries for other cities.  Contributions are judged without revealing the writer’s name or affiliation.

The club awarded 420 prizes including special awards to Rory Devine, morning news anchor for the San Diego NBC affiliate who received the Harold Keen Award for Outstanding Contribution to Journalism; Mark Putnam, a communications consultant, who received the Andy Mace Award for Outstanding Contribution to Public Relations; and Kent Davy, former editor the North County Times, who received the Jim Reiman Award for Enlightened Media Management.
